Name: Ichigo Kurosaki
Canon: Bleach
Canon Point: Chapter 624, after accidentally knocking himself out
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Species: Human/Shinigami/Quincy/Hollow hybrid. Looks and acts human.
Appearance: Have a picture reference!
History/Background: He's the protagonist of a 686 chapter shounen manga. Buckle up.
Personality: Ichigo is a lot of things, not even getting into the trainwreck that is his parentage. He's an obstinate jerk with a personality that defaults to grumpy and an antagonistic attitude. He's a stalwart protector, willing to go to any ends and stand up against even the most overwhelming of opposition in order to keep innocents and people he cares for from harm. He's a born warrior with honed instincts who revels in the joy of battle, seeking out opponents to test his mettle. He's an honorable man who treats his foes with respect, always repays his debts, and gets mad if he can't participate in a fair fight. He's all of those things, and more. After two years and change of being embroiled in constant battles and learning about the world he's been sheltered from, he's become a complicated person who's just started coming to terms with who he really is as a person.
At his very core, making of the foundation of everything else, is the guardian. When he was very young, Ichigo was like a whole different person, happy and cheerful and a bit of a crybaby. The death of his mother changed all that, and his resolve to spare himself or anyone else from feeling the kind of grief he felt then has molded him into who he is today. Even before all of the business with Shinigami turned everything upside down, he couldn't abide by bullies, and any attempt he's made to resist the urge to leap to the rescue of someone being trampled on has been a total failure. As the stakes have risen, with lives and entire worlds hanging in the balance, he still refuses to sit on the sidelines and watch when he can rush in and make a difference. Sneaking into Soul Society to rescue Rukia, invading Hueco Mundo to save Orihime, even his introduction to the whole Quincy mess by rushing to rescue Harribel (a former enemy, even), all of these are strong examples of his irrepressible urge to be a hero by recklessly ignoring all advice and orders to the contrary.
Once he actually gets into a fight, Ichigo shines. He lives to fight, and he knows it: he confesses as much during the fight with Grimmjow, acknowledging that part of his motivation to rescue Orihime was a chance at a rematch with him. Be it a quick fight like thrashing a bunch of bullies picking on a kid or a long, protracted brawl against an equal opponent, once he's throwing punches and swinging his sword, it's like he's a whole different person. He's cocky, aggressive, almost playful in the way he tests his opponent's limits and learns how they fight. Through observing their actions and how they carry themselves, he can learn what kind of a person his enemy is through sheer instinct. His obsession with a fair fight is a major handicap, he refuses to take what he considers an unfair advantage, even if by all rights he really, really should. He's an endless fountain of confidence and righteous fury... at least, right up until he loses. If it's a narrow loss, he gets angry and sullen, but a crushing defeat can leave him nearly broken. When an enemy is clearly and overwhelmingly his superior, he plunges into a funk that he's very slow to crawl out of unless someone else is there to grab him and pull him out.
Even outside of battle, assuming he isn't lost in despair, he doesn't seem to know the meaning of fear. When threatened, he always doubles down and stands his ground, even with his life on the line. He doesn't show the slightest hesitation in provoking all of Soul Society if necessary to rescue Rukia, he goes through bankai training despite the possibility of death and being woefully unprepared, and even after the Arrancar soundly thrash him and knowing just how unbelievably powerful Aizen is, he still charges headlong into Hueco Mundo. Enemies that have displayed shows of power that would terrify anyone with any amount of sense just get a whistle of appreciation and an overhead slash from his sword until he's sure they're more than he can handle.
Of course, there are those rare times where it isn't all life-and-death battle. When he isn't in the middle of struggling for his life, the rest of his personality comes out to, er, 'shine.' Ichigo is a man of few words and with little tolerance for stupidity. He's gruff, short-tempered and prone to shouting, and shows little respect to anyone that bugs him that he doesn't already know, but for the most part, this is all just a show. If he sees someone in need of help, whatever kind of help that might be, he'll help them and grump the whole time about it. He pretends not to care what people think about him, but he purposely maintains an air of detached coolness all the same. Sadly for him, he likes to think this kind of badass loner thing works for him, but anyone who really gets to know him will inevitably see right through it.
When he isn't being an edgelord, at least, Ichigo can be a decent guy. Sometimes, he can even be downright goofy. He's smart, able to place high in his school's grade rankings, extremely observant, and capable of great insight. One of his greatest strengths is unquestionably his ability to empathize and understand why other people do what they do, like his father's decision to keep his lineage a secret from him, or why the Shinigami Representative Badge he received from Ukitake was meant to spy on him. He can see things from others' points of view, and while he may not always agree with them, he's not too proud to completely disregard their motives.
Then, there's the silly things. Ichigo is notoriously awful at remembering peoples' names, oftentimes forgetting outright or giving them dumb nicknames because he can't recall exactly how it's pronounced. He flails and twitches when people tease him, sometimes resorting to trying to punch them for being so dumb. And then, there's his problems with girls. Being a handsome, heroic loner, he's had several interested in him, and he's completely flabbergasted about it. Some, like poor Orihime, have gone more or less unnoticed, while others that try to blatantly show their affections leave him a flustered, shouting mess. He's a titanic prude and completely loses it if a woman appears to him undressed or wearing anything revealing, although hints are shown that he may be protesting a bit too much. It is worth mentioning, though, although it hasn't come to pass just yet, he more than likely begins dating Orihime not too long into the future and winds up marrying her and fathering a son, so with a little bit of effort, this aversion he has to all things romantic or sexual can be overcome.
Skills/Abilities:
Enhanced Physical Body - Even when completely deprived of his powers, Ichigo was still exceptionally strong, agile, and enduring, but not to a superhuman degree.
Reiatsu - Aka spiritual power. One of Ichigo's biggest advantages is his ridiculously massive amount of reiatsu that his unique physiology gives him, and as of recently at his canon point, he actually knows how to control it. This translates more or less to having a very large potential mana pool, once he gets a bunch of level-ups.
Hand-to-hand Combat Expert - He's well-trained in martial arts and is a born scrapper.
Master Swordsman - Ichigo is extremely proficient at fighting with swords.
Zangetsu - Ichigo's zanpakutou, or soul cutter. It manifests as a pair of swords, one large and one small, and is the focus of his powers. Zangetsu won't be joining him in the game, but it's listed here for completeness' sake.
Getsuga Tenshou - The one ability Ichigo has learned to use with Zangetsu, a massive crescent-shaped blast of energy. He's learned a variant called Getsuga Jujisho that fires a wave from both swords simultaneously. Not useable without Zangetsu.
Bankai - The true form of his zanpakutou, Tensa Zangetsu. Its abilities after Zangetsu is reforged are completely unknown and never explored in the manga.
Hollowfication - By unleashing the power of his Hollow side, Ichigo manifests a monstrous mask across half of his face and supercharges his physical and spiritual abilities. This ability won't be appearing in the game.
Quincy Abilities - Ichigo has shown the ability to subconsciously manifest Blut Vene, a shield of superhardened blood that appears over his skin to block physical attacks. Another ability that won't be showing up at all.
Magic Weapon: Soulblazer: In its inactive state, this weapon is nothing but a gold-colored, embossed sword hilt. By charging it with mana, a weightless blade with high cutting power made of pure energy extends from it. At its lowest point, it's barely a dagger in size, but imbuing it with extra mana causes the blade to grow until it reaches full greatsword length and width. Higher mana levels also cause it to glow brighter, from a dull dark blue at low power to a brilliant blue-white radiance at maximum. Overcharging the blade is possible, causing it to crackle with energy that is discharged the next time it hits a target for extra damage. The blade drains an amount of mana at all times to maintain its form that grows along with its size, and once the user runs out, it will deactivate completely. Mastery of this weapon greatly reduces the mana cost to charge it and its upkeep drain.
